Ingredients

  • 75 Fresh Figs
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Ground Mariner

Instructions

  • After harvesting 75 fresh figs cut into 1/2 to 1 inch slices and cut crosswise again.
  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in pan and add chopped figs
  • Cook down on medium heat for 15 minutes until the color turns to a golden to deep brown.
  • Add 1/2 cup sugar and stir
  • Add 2 tablespoons ground mariner and cook down another 5 minutes while stirring
  • Once preserves turn a dark golden brown and are soft and spreadable, they are finished and ready to can. 
  • If canning for a longer storage time, make sure to use sterilized canning jars.
  • If preserves will be consumed in two to three weeks, keep in refrigerator.
