Ground Mariner
Instructions
After harvesting 75 fresh figs cut into 1/2 to 1 inch slices and cut crosswise again.
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in pan and add chopped figs
Cook down on medium heat for 15 minutes until the color turns to a golden to deep brown.
Add 1/2 cup sugar and stir
Add 2 tablespoons ground mariner and cook down another 5 minutes while stirring
Once preserves turn a dark golden brown and are soft and spreadable, they are finished and ready to can.
If canning for a longer storage time, make sure to use sterilized canning jars.
If preserves will be consumed in two to three weeks, keep in refrigerator.
